When you upload a flight plan to the IFD route page from FF, the first airport waypoint is NOT designated as the ORIGIN airport, just a regular waypoint. It means that you can't specify a departure, and it also acts a little differently in a few other ways.
I have reported this to Foreflight, they have replicated the bug, and are working on it.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ You've been copied in on ForeFlight support Hi Orest, This is Phil with ForeFlight again. We have not forgotten you, and we appreciate your patience as we look into this issue. Our avionics connect specialist has reported that he has been able to replicate the issue you describe (just as you said he would), but a quick fix to resolve the issue is not possible. Therefore, we have opened an internal engineering case to investigate it further and fix as able. While we don't have a timeframe for when a fix may be put in place, please know we are working on correcting this. Please let us know if you have further questions or issues. We are here and happy to help! Phil |
Orest, I think they must have fixed this with just released version 9.5.2. I tried to reproduce the problem at my aircraft today with that release and was unable.
The FF route that I entered included a departure, and that departure was not copied to the IFD540, however I was able to add it directly into the origin airport in the IFD without any difficulty. This is probably not a bad thing, because it is always possible that the wind/runway could change requiring a different departure than first entered into FF. But not copying the FF route departure to the IFD could perhaps still be considered an issue. In my example above, the route loaded into the IFD was the origin airport waypoint/origin followed by the first fix after the SID. Edited by chflyer - 03 Jan 2018 at 9:11am |
I’m able to transfer flight plans from the IFD to FF but when I click “send to panel” I always get an error message. Anyone else see this?
Yes, virtually always see it. Just click send, again. Just about always works on the second attempt.
Yes, takes two attempts at first load, but works on the first send after that.
Weird. I wonder if this is a FF issue or something Avidyne will correct in a future release.?
Just be aware that the Flight plan will be added to the Routes list in the FMS, where you would need to find it and activate it. You will see a yellow message flashing briefly that it was received.
I had assumed it would be added to the FMS in the active flight plan page. It sounds like it becomes a "saved" flightplan in the routes list like my other saved routes. If this is a one time flight, I'd then have to go back and delete that route from the list, correct?
Yes, that is exactly how it operates.
We investigated this further in cooperation with Foreflight. The problem has been identified and the solution will be included in an upcoming release of Foreflight.
Do you think you can get ForeFlight to display traffic and weather from the IFDs?
AviSteve, apropos of this, there's another thread about display of ADS-B wx/traffic on ForeFlight 10 with some useful feedback there.
hi Orest. Is this really fixed? I am relatively new to the IFD 540 but not foreflight, with v10.3. Still happens for me when transferring flight plans. No origin.
The "no origin", on a flight plan upload to the IFD540 still is not fixed. The origin airport is just a regular waypoint. I was commenting on the flight plan transfer itself, either download or upload. That seems to work now, although you sometimes get the error message the first time you make a request. * Orest |
