Per chflyer: "It starts fine on my iPad Pro (M4), running iPadOS 18.6.2. I can load a route and activate it, but it says there is no GPS fix and the map centres on somewhere around Connecticut not the route origin like it should. It seems that the trainer doesn't simulate the GPS location properly."

chflyer, sorry you've got this issue. Let's figure out what's happening.

Might the GPS be centered around KBED, an airport in Bedford, Massachusetts? That's our default starting location.

Based on your spelling of "centres", are you running the IFD Trainer from England? I wonder if something funky is going on there.

I'd like to test using your Flight Plan's waypoints. Could you share the starting airport?

1) Yes, it's likely around KBED. I didn't look too closely, just the general area which was quite obvious.< ="chrome-extension://ldinpeekobnhjjdofggfgjlcehhmanlj/inpage.js" id="leather-provider">

2) I'm in Switzerland. No problem with the GPS location on the iPad. I can centre on my location on ForeFlight and it's perfect. But perhaps you can explain how the iPad's GPS location might be relevant. The Trainer can be used to set up and run a route simulation anywhere in the world, not limited to the iPad location.

I might not be understanding your issue. Let me share some information that might be helpful. Let me know what I can explain further.

The geographic location of the iPad that runs IFD Trainer has no impact on the functionality. The apparent GPS Status that displays in IFD Trainer is for show only. There are a couple ways you can check to see where the simulated aircraft in the IFD Trainer is located:

1) Press AUX and then, using the lower left button within the simulated display, press to cycle through:

Status Software,
Status Databases,
Status GPS,
Status Datalink.

Stop on Status GPS to see the latitude and longitude value.

2) With an origin specified and/or in a simulated flight, press MAP > MAP in order to see the geographic location of the simulated aircraft.

LSZH and the surrounding area are beautiful!

2) was the issue. I set and activated a route in Switzerland in the FMS tab, but when I switched to the MAP tab, the Trainer showed the location in Massachusetts instead of showing the route with the aircraft moving along it as the simulation runs. The simulator tab at the top was set to X1, so the simulation should have been running but wasn‘t visible on the MAP tab. I checked the GPS page you suggest as 1) and there was no GPS position shown. I didn‘t think to take a snapshot.

I tried this again since your last message and everything was back to what one would expect… i.e. everything seemed normal again. So I can‘t reproduce the problem. I‘m come back if the symptom reappears.
