I sent Chris Orr the short video of the touch screen miss entered KFOK to KFIT. Btw, if I use the knobs, it enters correctly.

If you're up for taking a video of you interacting with the unit and experiencing the behavior I'd be glad to look at it in an attempt to diagnose the problem.  The event log would be helpful as well.  Send them to me at slindsley at avidyne dot com.

On the keypad, the main presentation is three rows of letters. NO
Numbers. How could I enter a number zero without going in and changing the keypad to numbers? I’ve been entering this airport for years, no problem. Sometimes it takes the correct KFOK and other times it switches to KFIT. BTW, this is my third IFD. The first two bricked in IFR flight. I wouldn’t fly with any 540 series again. I paid a up charge for the 550. Just out of warranty, now this. Now I just use avidyne as a moving map only. Sad I needed to default to garmin.

How are you entering the waypoint?  By knob or by keyboard?  If by keyboard, any chance you're pressing '0' (zero) instead of 'O' (oh)?  Any trouble entering other identifiers containing an O?  It's unlikely that there's anything wrong with the IFD.  If the knob encoder was bad, you would notice other effects when turning the knob.

I recently developed a problem with my 550. When I enter a destination airport KFOK (Gabreski airport), the unit will not accept the entry and defaults it to KFIT, Fitchburg airport . I spoke to Jeppesen to see if there was a problem with the database. They indicated no issues on their end. I tried about ten times , then it worked and accepted the KFOK entry. All navigation and approaches worked. Has anyone else had this issue? It seems the problem of switching airports occurs when I get to the “ O” in KFOK. Any thoughts? Return the unit to avidyne?
