Back in February, Steve promised two new datablocks as follows:

3. I agree that it is operationally very useful to have some easy means of knowing your direct distance (no button hook, no ATN, etc) to a waypoint.   Towards those ends, we are going to create two new types of datablock options for folks to pick if they want.   We will add the "Active Waypoint Direct Info" datablock which will contain the active waypoint identifier, present position bearing to that active waypoint, and present position direct distance to that waypoint.   We will also add the "Direct Distance to Active Waypoint" datablock which will contain the active waypoint identifier and present position direct distance to that waypoint.  Those two new datablock adds will come shortly after Release 10.1.0.0.

Will these be included in 10.1.1?

When will 10.1.1 be released?

Will 10.1.1 be able to be updated from the front USB port?

I believe I read somewhere here that 10.1.1 was expected in a few weeks.

I have not seen a date for 10.2, and even if I did, would take it only as "ball park". Pretty hard to predict these things, in particular when also dealing with an outside agency.

I believe 10.1.1 is only to fix some bugs and will not introduce any new features such as the datablocks you described.

Speaking of datablocks....If you backup everything possible onto the USB stick (checklists, settings and waypoints), do the datablocks get backed up also?  I'm wondering in the case of an exchange unit if it would be necessary to document all the present datablocks to reset the same ones in the new box or if the backup will restore the datablocks.

@teeth6 - any basis for your belief?

I was hoping for a response from Avidyne.

Back in country and happy to answer on behalf of Avidyne.....

Yes, datablocks are backed up on the USB stick as part of 10.1.0.0.

I'll pump out a 10.1.1.0 definition thread in a few days - need to wait on one item but in general, it's all bug fix type of stuff.

Even if not "necessary" it is a good idea to just take a couple of pictures (every avionics tech has a smart phone these days) before power is removed.  I would click all of the map datablock settings and the user settings and anything else I could think of, before power is removed.

Worst-case, the pictures go unused because everything else works as designed.

What is different between the ADS-B symbology and a TAS/TCAS symbology?

When nearing my TOD point I noticed it was appearing and disappearing on the map page. It finally just disappeared but when I went from a 15 mile range to a 10 mile range, it showed again. When I went back to 15 miles it didn't show. Any ideas?

It's a map declutter thing. The chime will always work as will the 10 sec countdown CAS message but the letters "TOD" will be auto decluttered if there is anything (other map features) else in the vicinity which is easily the case at zoomed out ranges. The TOD label is the lowest priority on the map layers.

Steve,

I was talking about an answer from Avidyne to my original question in this thread.  That question was whether or not 10.1.1.0 will include the promised datablocks:

"Active Waypoint Direct Info" and the "Direct Distance to Active Waypoint"

Back in February you said, "Those two new datablock adds will come shortly after Release 10.1.0.0."

Oh, now I understand.   Those two datablocks are part of the new feature 10.2 release - we already have them done and in that 10.2 release branch.  10.1.1.0 is a bug fix release that will be out in a few weeks.
