I have two IFD 540s and bought Jeppesen subscription for them with charts. Now, I am in the process of installing G500. I called Jeppesen yesterday and they suggested data for Eastern US, no charts, pro rated to match my Avidyne subscription for $230. Garmin also sells a subscription. Are these the same, Garmin and Jeppesen? Any other suggestions?

I'm not an expert on Garmin nav data offering options but I do believe that Garmin offers two fundamental options:

1.  Jepp data (comes at a $ premium I believe), or
2.  Garmin data (not compatible with Jepp data and is in direct competition with Jepp).

Thanks Jake
I'm still having trouble with my jepp jsum downloads. They gave me only one set of downloads for Nav and obstacles for my two 540, even after I had contacted them. Charts are fine.

That is the same issue I am having.  I have had to call tech support with each download and ask them to add another to my site.  I know some users are downloading only once and then copying via windows to their other USB FOB but that did not work out for me.  I kept getting error messages.  Jepp tells me that they are aware of the issue and will be putting 2 downloads on the sites of people who have 2 540s but this has not happened yet.....and I am not too optimistic that it will anytime soon.

We're escalating this to Jepp ourselves.

Apparently Jepp has resolved this issue.  I'll know for sure when I do my downloads later today but I received this email from Jepp today:

Your services have been reinstated to show the dual downloads for charts, Nav, Obstacles and Terrain.  You will see these all as separate downloads in JSUM/JDM.  If you have any questions about this please let us know and thank you for your patience while we addressed this issue.

Seems like it is finally fixed for me too. I guess I will see on the next cycle to be sure
