I have a PM8000B, and hopefully soon will have an IFD540. Also have an SL-30 as com/nav #2.

With the SL-30 I can set it to monitor the standby freq, by pushing the COM or NAV selection a second time. The SL-30 will then transmit standby radio receptions to the PM8000B, unless the active freq is recepting, in which case the standby is optionally muted. I do not need to do anything on the PM8000B to make that happen.

What about the IFD540? Can I make the above happen as well with its active & 1st standby freq? I thought I read that somewhere, but can't find it in the manual, or perhaps I missed it.

The PM8000B can also be set to monitor Com #2, while having Com #1 as active (or vice versa), this is a slightly different thing, involves two separate radios, and is clearly an audio panel function.

I'll give it one more bump, but then assume that it isn't possible or for some reason you are holding this close to your chest.

I''m not sure exactly what your describing but I do know if the IFD 540 is paired with the AMX240, you will be able to monitor the 1st standby frequency by selecting the monitor button on the 240. The 240 is a repackaged 8000B. Hope that helps.

Sorry, for whatever reason, I didn't have this thread set up to auto notify me when a post was made.  Not sure what I did wrong but hopefully all cleared up now.

As for Standby Freq monitoring, I'll answer the more typical question here and see if that's what you meant.   The AMX240 Audio Panel has a MON capability and of course it has the ability to also listen in to the 2nd radio active freq too.

Which of those two are you asking about?

The stack:

PM8000B
Radio #1: IFD540 - primary COM = 119.7; standby COM = 128.27
Radio #2: SL30 - primary COM = 122.82; standby COM = 125.00

PM8000B is set to Radio #1 for send/receive, and it is MONITORing Radio #2:

A transmission on 119.7 will be heard at all times. A transmission on 122.82 will be heard only if 119.7 is quiet. I am NOT asking about that, that is just a function of most audio panels.

What I AM asking about, is there a way of also monitoring 128.27?

The SL-30 allows you to do that sort of thing, optionally monitor its set standby frequency, it is a setting on the SL-30, not the audio panel that does this. Does the IFD540 do something similar?

An AMX240 does not enter into this discussion.

It is a bit of a complex question, hope that sets it out. Thanks.

Now I understand.  Let me check on a few things at the plant and then respond.
