Our IFD440 powered up with the engine running today and would not transmit. Symptoms observed:

Red crosses over the frequency boxes and a couple Cautions:

No communication with VHF radio

No communication with traffic sensor

Broadcast datalink receiver failure

Sounds to me like a major issue inside our IFD. I plan to check the connectors on the back of the box in the morning, unseat and reseat the box in its tray, and see what differences that makes.

All that being said, it sounds like our IFD has suffered a major failure and has to home for fixing.

What say you folks? Any advice. Has this been happening to anyone else?

Bill

Ouch, Bill-- sorry to see this. Disclaimer: I am not an expert by any means.

P195 of the install manual says that you may see red Xs in this case if there's no power to P1002 connector, from which the VHF radio subsystem gets power. Check the breakers first, then try reseating the unit.

I don't know whether the other errors you mention could be caused by lack of power to the VHF unit.

You should reach out to Avi support and they'll be able to give you better guidance.
