IFD550 / G5 / TruTrak AP. Hand flying practice approach to ILS 10 two days ago and ILS 28 yesterday. Loaded the approach, correct frequency loaded automatically, got VLOC, color changed to green, intercepted the glide slope and displayed but the CDI changed to 360. Called the tower, no problem reported. Flew ILS28 yesterday, same thing. Turned green, glide slop came alive but the CDI pointing to 360. Plane was sitting idle for 2 months and updated the database three days ago and all current.

No idea what is happening. Lose connection to antenna? IFD came lose and not getting good contact to antenna connection?

Does this occur on any other VHF based approaches? This is easy to check on the ground by activating a flight plan with multiple airports/VHF approaches. Put the IFD in VLOC and activate a leg on each approach in the flight plan one by one. The G5 HSI CDI should be green and change to the respective inbound course as you step through activating a leg on each flight plan approach.

I just came back trying VOR / VLOC and I could not center the needle. I saw the error message that came up in G5 - Not Receiving RS-232 data. Is this a direct wire connection between IFD and G5 ? Anything else involved?

Thanks

IFD and G5 are connected via RS-232..
