Greetings all,
I recently purchased an old EX5000C MFD off eBay (PN: 700-00004-006, SN: 2048). It came out of an accident aircraft based in England.
I reside in Seattle, Washington and have since updated the NAVdata to 'The Americas'.
I can see all the NAV data perfectly, but I no longer have terrain (It was visible when the unit had the England NAVdata).
So my question is: How can I retrieve/reload terrain data for The Americas?
On another topic, I am building a test bench app to send data to the MFD. I've had success in sending Heading, Lat/Lon, MagVar & Ground speed data to the unit using the on-board RS232 port #1.
I'm using NMEA-0183 compliant sentences, sending it to "Receiver 1", which is the first RS232 port available on the unit.
Here's the NMEA sentence: (Checksum not included) $GPRMC,023405,A,4726.99333,N,12218.70666,W,250.0,330.0,230613,19.0,E*";
My question is: Does anyone here know how to send ALTITUDE data to the MFD using NMEA-0183? I've tried nearly every NMEA sentence in the book, with no luck.
My concern is that ALT data can only be sent to one of the ARINC429 ports, which I can't do at this time. (I don't have the protocol handy, nor the hardware)
I know that 2nd question is a longshot but thought I'd give it a try (Avidyne, can you help?)
