Will the IFD540 display the lightning data in color like the EX600, or will it be limited to the monochrome compatibility mode like the GNS530?

It is not clear yet (as of 18 Jun) if full color TWX670 support will make the initial release. What I mean by that is we have prioritized every feature and function above/beyond what a 530/W can do. Many of those features/functions have "made the cut" for the initial release, some have been deferred and a bunch are in the middle. By being in the middle, they are on the bubble for inclusion in first release. We have a number of parallel tracks in the completion of the IFD540 and if some of the non-software items extend their current schedule, that gives an opportunity to include more software features/functions. Full color TWX670 support is a specific example of being in the middle. We'll have a clearer picture later in the summer.

The colored white/yellow strikes will make the initial release, that much is sure.

Full-color TWX support has been triaged out of the first release of IFD540 for schedule reasons.

This is disappointing!
I (and others that I personally know) have pre-committed to the IFD540 presuming that the TWX670 would have the full color support; at the very least because it would be supporting another Avidyne product.
Also those of us outside the US have more limited options with data-linked weather and the TWX670 with it's 'color cell' features was a much expected addition to the IFD540.
Who knows when we'll now see it!

I understand your disappointment with full color TWX and the first release of the IFD540. We are planning a non-US centric follow-on release that provides the much needed alternative and international weather solutions among other things. We had to make the hard call to draw the line on first release content for schedule-driven reasons but we are keenly aware that people outside the US are a very significant customer base for us.
