Does anyone happen to know if it is possible to drive the DFC90 from the IFD alone without and other PFD?

it is not possible currently.

The prerequisites for DFC installation (EXP5000 or Aspen) haven‘t changed in years, and there has been no indication from Avidyne of interest in further development.
