This strikes me as a solution looking for a problem to fix: a little box that lets you download Jeppesen updates using JDM on your phone/tablet, pass them to the box, and put them on a USB stick... whereupon you plug the stick into your IFD and update as normal. It might be marginally more useful if you have equipment that uses an SD/microSD card directly for databases, but still.

Yes, it is more for folks that rely on SD cards, that domicile in the unit, would make it handier I think.

But my Avidyne USB stick, sits in my flight bag and goes home with me anyway. When JDM announces an update, I download it to the stick, at home.

When the IFD announces a database is expired, I pull out the USB stick from my flight bag and update it.

The Wombat thingie is not going to help any of that, in fact would make it more complicated.
