If anyone sees "no seats available" on the trainer app, we are currently working through an issue with Jeppesen. We're still working through this data delivery problem with Jepp at the moment.  The right solution is for you to log in with no ("blank") credentials and then download the sample data that is presented.  There's no need to uninstall/reinstall the app. Once the Jepp problem is fixed, they can go download the same data they use in the avionics.

Great - that works. Is this also the trainer for the IFD550 or is there another app?

Lance, it's for the IFD550, IFD540, & IFD440. Go to IFD Trainer app in Settings and you'll see Device Type where you select the model you want.

Simpson, thanks for the info.

I have just come off the phone from Jepp tech support and they were unable to help.

My problem is that when I sign in with my Jepp credentials, I get a Jepp screen with the list of databases, but the obstacle and chart db are missing. I am able to download the navdata, map data, and terrain data. When I click on the update navigation databases icon (upper right corner), the subscription serial number presented is an Avidyne serial number rather than my own Jepp sub serial number. I have a screenshot so if that would help you, just send me a private email and I'll forward it.

Otherwise, pls let us know when you think the issue is resolved.

My problem continues to be that while I do get to the Jepp screen, and download the data with no problem, the charts will not initialize in the trainer.

Any suggestions?

Thank you,

The issue with the Failure to Initialize the database is that I logged in with my Jepp id.  The trainer apparently can only use the sample database.

I had to log out and reload the trainer application, and then log in with NO user id to the Jepp page.  That let me access the sample databases instead of my "real" databases that caused the trainer app to choke.

Now it works fine, as long as I use the sample database and do not try to log into the Jepp data with my actual Jepp id.

After struggling with my Jepp nav data wasn't being shown in IFD Trainer after logging in with Jepp credentials and downloading my subscription database, I came across this forum post saying that it doesn't work and I must use the Sample database. OK, but Argh! Now, I cannot find my way back to the Sample database.
  1. I deleted the IFD Trainer app and downloaded it again. (All of the stuff below was happening before. I figured someone would suggest a reinstall, so I did that too. I also restarted the iPad after deleting Trainer.)
  2. When I start Trainer, the Jepp login page appears with my credentials. (Not sure how they survived the delete/reinstall but I have seen that in some other apps too.)
  3. If I delete the credentials, the Login button is disabled.
  4. If I delete the credentials and press Return while in the password box, Login is enabled but I get "Invalid username or password".
  5. Still in the Login area, in "Update Navigation Databases", a subscription serial number is listed, starting with AVD1. I think this was blank before I ever logged in and was still using the Sample database, though I am not certain.
  6. If I press Exit, Trainer starts. I don't get the screen where I can choose the sample database. It appears that Trainer is still using the last-downloaded data. (Not sure how that data survived the reinstall either.)
  7. Database Status page says "Nav: Americas. Simulated Data Not For Flight", and "Terrain: Jeppesen Terrain Data Aug 5, 2015".
  8. If I then tell Trainer to update databases, I end up back at the Jepp login screen.
  9. Repeat as above.
So, at this point, IFD Trainer is essentially hobbled without Nav Data. I just had R10.2 installed on my 540, so I am anxious to get this working, and then to get IFD100 working on a separate iPad.
