A video recently posted on AV-Web had had Mike offering comments on Synthetic Vision at http://www.aero-news.net/index.cfm?ContentBlockID=720bd3a2-8408-4cf8-838d-081e0f7f31ea - http://www.aero-news.net/index.cfm?ContentBlockID=720bd3a2-8408-4cf8-838d-081e0f7f31ea & . I didn't see anything in the video concerning traffic advisories. Can you tell me what the Avidyne TAS600 series will display in Synthetic Vision, if anything? It was also suggested by one observer (who thought it might) that traffic will also display on a separate map page, should we choose to keep it open, but that solution would seem to add unnecesary complexity to the display. Are there any specific benefits, now or planned for the future, to linking R9 with the Avidyne TAS series?

The exact depiction of traffic intruders and traffic advisories is not yet finalized. Take a look at a photo that was taken a couple of weeks ago about how they were initially implemented. http://twitpic.com/2dq622 . I think you get the point that the traffic will be overlaid in 3D over the synvis. It will continue to be displayed on the other maps as well, including the traffic thumbnail.
Not sure what you mean by R9 - TAS integration, it is already compatible and will show tail numbers of the other traffic if available.

Thanks, Mike. I have much faith in the Avidyne line, and switched to the TAS 620 and TWX to facilitate an "All- Avidyne panel". I am anxious to see how various strengths of these products integrate with R9, and look forward, for example, to cell depiction with the TWX. Traffic seemed like a challenge in Synthetic Vision and I can see with this example how you may struggle with multiple targets in an airport environment characterized by heavy traffic in the pattern.

Harvey: I would suggest we wait until the full SYN VIS is out to decide where and how to display traffic. It will show in quite brilliant mode on the SYN VIS screen which means we will need need it "as much" on other screens. But the map pages automatically show traffic and most of us have at least one map page open. But the optimal screen modes for various levels of flight are different from one person to the next. I still fly enroute mostly with the map+ page on the #2 IFD mostly to see the engine data on the right.
