I've taken the plunge and purchased the Avidyne IFD540. I am really looking forward to seeing what this can do, but I've come up to a snag. During installation, I was inputing the settings taken from the old Garmin 530 and there were 2 settings that didn't translate.

On the "Main RS232 Config" page, my Garmin said:
INPUT Output
WX-500 OFF
OFF OFF
ADSB TFC WX ADSB TFC WX
OFF MapMX
OFF OFF

However, line 3 concerning the ADSB didn't translate to the Avidyne. Also, on the "Main ARINC 429 Config" page,  said:

Speed      Data
IN 1 Low Garmin GDU
IN 2 High ADSB TFC
OUT   High GAMA 429 Graphics

IN 2 is the problem child here, but the "data" block for ADSB wasn't a possible selection either.

I've been waiting for Avidyne to get back to me and their tech support appears to be out to lunch permanently. Obviously, this has to do with the Garmin GTX345 that I have installed, but not sure of the correct setting.

Thanks all!!

Oh, I've got a Garmin G500 installed along with an old Bendix 850 MFD and the Garmin GTX345 transponder.  It is a single gps/nav/com aircraft...the other nav/com is a King Kx155.

Hi,  I have always found tech support to be extremely responsive and fast but I'm wondering why the installer did not do all the configurations settings?  When I installed mine, I remember the shop did all of the necessary settings and it was all set when I picked it up.

It does require a minor wiring change on the GTX 345 and a slightly different configuration.   If you have access to the newest Install Manual REV 15 it has the wiring diagram and configuration information starting on page 223.
We just did a 530 with a GTX 345 swap out to a IFD550 and had to do the wiring change and configuration.

Tech support still hasn't gotten back to me.  Can you be a bit more specific?  I haven't got an installation manual to reference.

Was this on your airplane or a customer of yours?  Are you an installer?

Thanks!
