Why are the colors of current weather flags blue indicating VFR and green indicating MVFR conditions? This is opposite from all the other weather products out there and is confusing. Can this be fixed to match the rest of the world like National Weather Service Aviation Weather Center and other on-line weather products (ForeFlight, etc.)?

Thank you in advance,

-- Bill

The METAR colors on the IFD540 are correct for the way ther FAA wrote the specification - Blue for VFR and Green for MVFR. It is other systems like Foreflight that have it backwards. It is important to look at the legend of whatever system you are using because some will interchange the colors, however e certified units will follow the FAA specification.

AviationWeather.gov uses blue for MVFR. Believe they were going to swap blue/green, but decided not to after it kicked up a bit of a kerfuffle.

In any case, I think it would be useful if editing of the colors were allowed.

We have no plans to violate the governing TSO or start the deviation approval process with HQ FAA.
