It seems each time the unit boots up, the MAP page displays in NORTH UP view. Was wondering if that could be changed, to have the last active view remembered (eg. TRACK UP, 240*), and have it boot up in that view the next time.

I suppose it may have to do with there being no track up (nor heading up) dataset available in the machine until you get a GPS lock and/or some air data.

If there is no GPS position it will default to North up, however, when you get position data it will return to you last setting.
