what is the proper way to remove the USB memory stick after updating the unit with NavData ?

When can the USB be safely removed?

You can safely remove the Memory Data Stick as soon as the unit starts to reboot...I do this all the time & I have no problems.

Agree with Don.  

After the countdown to reboot, while the screen is black, I try to pull the USB memory.  

However, if you are distracted and leave it in, the IFD will boot up normally.  Pull it anytime after that.  Though you could probably pull it anytime after 'Done' is displayed.  

At least that's the way it was before 10.2.3.1  The new PM may have specific directions...
