Also, see "DESIGNATING A USER WAYPOINT AS AN AIRFIELD" section in the Pilot's Guide.

I want to get rid of the 500ft aural alert, even if I turn volume down , still there.
Is there a way to do this?

I added my airport as an airfield, but I do land on beaches and gravel bars too.

You can designate any user waypoint as an airfield, so create one for you favorite spot on the beach and/or your favorite gravel bar and it will still work.  As chflyer pointed out, the 500ft Callout Aural can be disabled on the User Options page.

This may not be the most elegant solution, but I had my shop wire the Avidyne audio to a separate switch on my audio panel. I can silence all the terrain and altitude alerts on low level VFR flights with the flip of a switch. Its quick and easy to select the appropriate choice depending on what type of flight I am on.

I was thinking about this and maybe this would work— set up another user profile with all the identical options to your main profile except in user 2 turn off the aural warnings like 500 foot callout, terrain, etc (choose which ones). Then for flights or segments of flights just switch to user 2. It’s the top menu choice so no scrolling and is very fast to do.

I think the best option is to install a TAWS annunciator panel which has an inhibit button that will inhibit TAWS. Something like this, which you can find used for $500

Unused DME audio input wired to aural alerts, relabeled ALERT seems like an idea that would work well.   Reach up and turn it on or off as desired.
