Don't know how others feel, but for me, it has been quite a ride, going back to 2011.  Took forever to get the 540s finished and certified.

Took forever to get 10.2 into play, and there's still more to do.

Still waiting for TAS-A and have resigned myself to never having a DFC90 (which was my prime interest in Avidyne to begin with).

All of that said, I have two 540s, TAS, AXP, Skytrax, and whatever.

My friends said I was nuts for buying into this, and many seemed to posture "I told you so" with the Avi warranty plan.  EDIT: implied that Lucifer now had control of my soul.  Good luck with that.

Well, now, some years later - units are selling.  I have no info on how many but interest seems to be strong in the IFD series, which may open doors to other things for Avidyne.  EDIT2: I am pleased to see this happen, beyond the business aspect for Avi, kind of a validation for all of us who took the ride.

Anyway, maybe Avidyne deserves a half a victory lap for its perseverance on the IFDs, and maybe an attaboy for continuing to slog ahead with probably far fewer resources than the competition.

Agree?

Agreed.  The IFD 540 in our 172 is wonderful.  I suspect is is overkill - the pilots who fly it don't use all of the capabilities.  But they really like to use it!  That's especially true for my wife flys single-pilot IFR.

We have not upgraded to 10.2 yet because the plane was down for several months.  That will probably happen in July.  Everyone who flies it is using ForeFlight and we have Stratus II.  I expect my wife to be delighted with the new capabilities.

There are some features it would be nice if they added (is that plantain request still on the list?) but overall it is an amazing piece of equipment.

The Boeing Banana or Avidyne Plantain -- how we all yearn for it!

From 2012 ...

--> A Boeing Banana

It would make my life complete! I sure hope it is still in the request pool.

The irony is that the feature was extant in the early days in the IFD beta code, migrating in from R9, and it was pulled for reasons that I'm not sure of.

Dream big, Orest!

Thinking about my birthday and Xmas, I would like:
  • Skytrax on Aspen
  • Servos for DFC90, (gasp)

Aspen sure has been quiet for way too long. Their "Connected Panel" needs to be doing something, talking to a Stratus/(x) box would be nice.
