Had a great morning flight but the 540 in my C182 was giving me a problem I'd not seen before.  It appears the squelch wasn't working.  When there was a transmission the signal was clear but after that I wen the frequency was quite I still had a lot of static and not able to adjust the squelch.  When using comm2 I had no issues.  Any suggestions as to what I might be able to trouble shoot myself before contacting the avionics shop....thanks

Frank--

While I haven't experienced it myself, the folks working on my plane after the 10.2 installation report exactly the same issue. If they can't get it resolved, I'll know in a few days and will report back. If they can fix it, I'll post that, too.

You might check that you or the shop didn't inadvertently bump the volume knob thus disabling the auto-squelch. Ask me how I know... I believe there is a post on here describing the same scenario.  :)

I had the same experience. More than once. Each time it took me less time to figure it out. The first time I really felt dumb when I figured it out.

BINGO!!!  That is what happened.  The men in the shop must have turned the squelch off and I wasn't aware of that.  I ....like a fool...assumed it was a problem.  I'll know better (I hope) next time.

Thanks. I hope to have my plane back late this week or early next and will check the squelch. Maybe the mechanics already have.

That's a relief. I was getting worried. My 540 had to go back to the factory after a failed 10.2 upgrade, so I'm waiting for my unit to come back. This will be something to check for.
