I use the Stratus 3 for ADS-B In and an iPad for the viewing platform. I am trying to determine the benefit of linking the IFD 540 to the Status Wifi signal.
What exactly transfers to the 540, other than a flightplan from the iPad? Does any of the wx text or graphic display on the 540? How about traffic?

The Stratus will not transmit weather or traffic to the IFD. Other than 2 way flight plan transfer, the IFD can provide GPS signal to the iPad, which the Stratus already does. You can also use the IFD 100 on the iPad if you have the Stratus as remote Wifi

Any chance that we will be able to see stratus or foreflight traffic displays on the 440/540 in the future. Seems like with the WiFi connection the information could be sent over.

I believe this has been discussed in one form or another several times. IFD is a TSO'd instrument. In a certified aircraft you need a certified, wired (panel-mounted?) traffic data source to feed to the IFDs. I believe that's not Avidyne, but the FAA requirement. I have the Lynx NGT-9000 wired to my IFD540 for TIS-B & FIS-B data and display. The IFD then sends that info to the phone or tablet via Wifi for display on EFB app of choice. My avatar shows weather from NGT displayed on IFD.

I see, thanks for the explanation. Fairly new to the 440 and did not find any info on a search I did. I appreciate the info.
Thanks, Y. Limor
