Hi, I have recently purchased a SR22G2 with an EX5000C Release 8 MFD. I have a Jeppesen subscription that allows me to download the required Electronic Charts. I believe I have followed the instructions correctly in loading the files onto a 2GB USB formatted as FAT16.

After downloading the file, I can see that there is a 19MB file called Aviutility and a 216kb DAT file both on the USB.

When I put the USB into the MFD and then power it up, the USB is unrecognised (i.e. a normal start occurs). The instructions have me believe that the charts should automatically upload.

Any help that anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated

cheers Adam

Had similar problems when I first bought my SR22.  I'd suggest you reformat the 2GB USB drive, then call Jepp tech support to have them let you re-download the charts, and try to upload them again.  If that works, remember to reformat the USB drive after every use.  Doing that seems to have solved my problems similar to yours.  If that doesn't work, use a different 2GB freshly formatted USB drive and download the charts.  A good idea is to get a batch of these USB drives and be prepared to throw them away from time to time.  Whatever it is, it doesn't take much to mess up a download, or to ruin one of these drives.  Not sure who is being picky here - Jeppesen or Avidyne - but I can understand why one or both won't tolerate a drive with any kind of defect or any kind of extraneous hidden files on it.  I have a dozen spares, they're so cheap it's hard to find them sold one off.
