All-

I am having difficulty getting an STec 55X GPSS to work with my IFD540 coupled to an Aspen ProMax and ACU2. I know the 55X requires the ARINC 429 Label 121 for the GPSS function. Can anyone confirm that the IFD will indeed pass this roll steering label on to the Aspen via the 429 data stream? Any other thoughts or experiences with similar configuration issues are welcome!

Yes, label 121 is included in the GAMA 429 output from the IFD.

I have a 55x/IFD/Aspen combo. Works great, except that I need to keep the power OFF to the 55x, until the IFD has booted. If I don't, then the Stec GPSS mode will fault, it has to do with channel speed sync, and that is only fully available during the 55x startup.

Just to follow up on this, I appreciate the responses! I am afraid that my concern was due to operator error, but the information you provided gave me some peace of mind until I was able to confirm proper GPSS function in flight. Without thinking too hard about it, while I was ground testing the new autopilot operation, I programmed a route into the IFD and activated GPSS on the 55X, after which I received a GPSS FAIL message on the 55X. In the air, The GPSS function worked great, and the combination of the IFD, Aspen, and 55X is really nice.

Best,
