The IFD could do that, it just doesn't. I did find an enhancement request in our database that addresses the issue, but it just hasn't risen to the top.

This is probably a question for Steve but if anyone else knows the answer, please chime in.
The IFD manual states that the wind vector datablock requires TAS and Heading input from an external device. However, TAS can be calculated from altitude, temp, and CAS (which for all intents and purposes is the same as IAS). In fact, the IFD calculator does this using manual input. So if the IFD has baro-altitude, OAT, and IAS input (and heading) from external sources, can it produce the wind vector using that? |
