Flying formation yesterday. While flying wing man, you don't get to look at your instruments, or fiddle with things. As we were flying around, the terrain warning came on, and I was hard-pressed to describe to my safety pilot how to turn it off. It was extremely annoying, and very distracting.

Is there a simple way to silence the FLTA?

See Page 4-40 in the IFD 440 Pilot Guide

Go to FMS, SETUP, Line Select User Options, scroll down to FLTA, select OFF

Note that in dual IFD installations,
both units will need to be set to
Off to disable the function.
