I have a sneaking suspicion that there will be some very COOL announcements from Avidyne at SnF.

Anyone "official" willing to throw up some teasers, just a bit early?

Are the "COOL" announcements coming with SNF or with OSH?

I've heard a bunch to be expected at SNF, but of course that may not mean immediate availability.

Syn Vis in the IFD?

(Duh, where else would it be unless they are announcing an MFD?)

You'd need additional sensors in the IFD, unless it had to be paired with an Aspen.  I was always hoping they had the sensors internal, which would allow you to add their autopilot without needing an Aspen.  The autopilot is out of my price range so I hope they stick to IFD upgrades.

I got into my relationship with Avidyne because I wanted the DFC90.  At the time I was told they were developing their own servos.

Well, now many years later I have:
2 Avidyne 540s
Avidyne TAS-605 (supposed to be -605A this year? - 50/50 I would guess)
AXP340
MLB100

AND I bought Aspens for the DFC-90 - which won't happen during my flying career if ever.

My Aspens already have SYN VIS - so not sure what that gets me.

So I have a lot of stuff...but not what I wanted.

Poor me.....

I've also got an IFD540/IFD440/AXP340, and am discovering that I need to add other stuff to get the AP/IFD interface to work the way I was expecting ... an altimeter with baro-output (to replace a new one installed just a year ago with the new encoder for my AXP340) plus an ADC, just to get baro-input to the IFD allowing an automated turn from VTF to intermediate and final approach legs.

sigh, dumb me too ....

The right question for SnF is not what is being announced, but is it a planned feature or available feature (eg. included in a co-announced 10.2 availability)? Planned features get everyone dreaming, but we won't have it until we get it, which could be 2016, 2017, ...  ;-)

I think it is fair (and a reasonable strategy) to announce upcoming products if there is a reasonable expectation that the time line is acceptably short.  On the other hand, "coming soon" with an open ended completion date, (or announcing unrealistic dates which continually slide), is not transparent, and is not a solid business practice in my view.

I understand the synthetic vision is part of 10.2 and free to all.   And 10.2 will be certified this year.

See Jake's posting including feature list for 10.2.  Amazing!  Can't wait.

The IFD100 is going to be huge!

I just got an email from Avidyne that might be an April Fools joke, but it seems pretty cool.

David , Steve posted the 10.2 upgrades on the forum and it's no April fools joke, I'm in winter haven right now and can't wait for Tuesday at Sun n Fun! I thought 10.2 might be a wrap up release but what a list of new stuff.
