Has anyone here replaced a Mag with a Surefly? I'm coming up on mag rebuild and considering it for my Cirrus SR-20. Does it cause any interface problems with your MFD? I would have the option of replacing the left or right mag, replacing left being recommended by Surefly.

Two years ago I replaced the left mag with a Surefly electronic mag. No problems with the MFD (or, anything else) were caused. I have dual IFD440 and Entegra MFD and PFD.

Did it require the tach2 signal converter? Also, did you have any improved performance or decreased fuel burn of any note?

My Surefly did not require the tach2 signal converter, but I did need a Slick ignition harness.

My sense is that starts are easier (i.e., quicker and without drama) and that fuel flow has been reduced 0.5 - 1 gph at 65% max rated horsepower. I do not have data to support that impression, unfortunately.

Thanks for the info. I keep getting mixed messages on the need for the Tach2 signal box. Surefly thinks I need it and Avidyne has yet to respond.

I had to install the Tach2 signal box in my airplane so that the SureFly ignition would properly display on my Horizon Instruments P-1000 digital tachometer.

I have the Avidyne Entegra PFD and MFD so that’s the equipment I want to keep happy. I don’t want to buy an extra signal conditioner I don’t need. Should happen within the next 3 months.
