My STEC 55x may have just died and even though I can probably get it fixed or a buy a yellow-tagged replacement, it could be time to upgrade to a DFC 90.

I have an Aspen Pro 1000 with an ACU.  I know I’ll need a software unlock for the Aspen.  Anything else?  Also, do I get the flight director and altitude preselect?

I envy you.  If I had servos I'd do a DFC90 in a New York minute.

The DFC90 is a fab bit of kit, but available only for three different airframes? So unfortunate.

It is a shame that Avi abandoned this project, I think cert costs were the tipping point.

Just to close the loop in case someone else wants to go down this path.  A Aspen with an ACU and an externally mounted RMS plus the software unlock is all that is needed to drive a DFC 90 which gives you altitude preselect and flight director.
